What’s different. What’s happened. What can we do.
It is important to succeed and ‘do it all’ - home, family, work - whilst looking marvellous, making it look a breeze. That would be enough pressure, without that peculiar female feeling of guilt when taking time out for ourselves.
I reflect on this now, in supposed enlightened times, and feel that with the rising popularity of cosmetic surgery and the frequently biased reporting about single mothers and ‘Super Mums’ we are not a huge amount further forward, despite a widely held view that equality has been achieved.
We can’t change the world, but we can meet together where we are and support each other and reach out to empower. Don’t just think about it. Grasp the day!
Savour each and every moment! Take time to do something new.
This year Coventry Women’s Festival informs, entertains, but more importantly, provides a voice for women. The 2008 festival features a fantastic launch
at the Coventry Transport Museum, Our promise for the 2008 Coventry Women’s Festival is a community where women of all races, religions and cultures can unite, grow and change together, support and nurture each other and laugh and cry together. It is a place where women’s voices, feelings and wisdom are valued, as well as a place you can listen to inspiring speakers, receive an award, find a new contact or career path, have a health check, get pampered or tap into our artistic side with expert guidance all the way.
Are women truly liberated or is there still a long way to go?
The way up this hill was begun by the generation of women who went
before us. Our hill top is simply a foothill for the next generation.
Come climb with us!
